Los Altos Hills

article slide

Los Altos Hills sits up the hill from its busier neighbors, Palo Alto and Los Altos. It has preserved its distinctly rural character — winding roads, rolling unfenced acres, orchards, horse facilities, and hidden estates.

Its one-acre minimums spread homes far apart. Hilly topography and strict building regulations give each home a unique design. Large, custom homes on lush acreage feature stunning views of the San Francisco Bay. Many original ranch homes have given way to mansions with guest houses, pools, tennis courts and vineyards.

Los Altos Hills feels like living in a national park, with 90 miles of roads and trails for foot, horse and bike. Bordering parks include Foothills Park (a 1400-acre open space park), the Byrne Preserve, and Rancho San Antonio County Park, a 167-acre park.

Among its community gems are the elite Fremont Hills Country Club, The Los Altos Hills Parks & Recreation Department, Purissima Park (home to the local little league), Foothill College (a two-year community college), and Hidden Villa, an organic farm that offers summer camps for children and many community programs.

The town mainly falls into the top rated Palo Alto School district, while the southern end feeds into the Los Altos schools.
